Tyler, The Creator

When I first heard Don’t Tap The Glass, I didn’t know how to feel about it. However, after I realized that Tyler created this album primarily to let loose and dance (and that he made it to help him through his Chromakopia tour), I understood it much more and began to love it. I’ve seen very polarizing opinions about this album, which reminds me of how the public received Cherry Bomb. But this album isn’t comparable to Flower Boy or IGOR– the purpose is different, and he didn’t spend that much time making it. I respect that he makes music for whatever purpose he wants to make it for– his authenticity and confidence make him stand out as an artist. My Tyler obsession aside, he is truly one of the most talented and creative artists of our time. Every aspect of his music– the production, sampling, lyrics, features, etc is so thoughtfully made, and DTTG specifically has so many hidden gems that make being a fan that much more rewarding when you notice them. Tyler, the Creator is my all-time favorite artist, so being able to capture him in his element means a lot to me :).
