Imaging Incarceration - Final Project for RCARTS300: Socially Engaged Visual Art in Prison
For this project, we had to create a series of images that address mass incarceration in some way. I chose to represent a way that shows how history is kind of repeating itself right now, and how people are still advocating for things activists have been fighting for decades. This was a digital photography class, so I used a DSLR to take photos at different protests, aiming to edit them in a film-like manner to evoke a sense of nostalgia and reflection – how many more people have to struggle before something changes?
